Tamang Heritage Trail in Nepal

Culture and tradition hold the great importance for a country. It is a key to attract the tourists as well. Typical Tamang culture is a unique part of heritage of the people of Himalayan kingdom of Nepal. Whether tourists like the Tamang culture or not Tamang people are always pleased to host the guest. Tamang people feel a great fortune to welcome anybody in their village. This is Goljung village in Rasuwa a mountainous district 120 meters North from Kathmandu, the capital city of Nepal and lies at an altitude of 2320 m from the sea level. Tamang welcome their guest by offering silk’s scarf and Khada and wine or Chyang (typical Nepalese rice beer). To the in evidence the village on the lap of Himalayas this is the continuation their ancient tradition. Sword dance of Tamang shows the history and bravery of the grand of Tamang during the war between Nepal and Tibet. The breathtaking range of the mountains can be seen closely from Goljung village. It is sure to be an unforgettable visit for the visitors. On the route from Goljung to the 7245 meters high pick of Lerung Mountain passing Syabrubesi Bazar we can reach 2300 meters high Chamgang peak. From here the exotic beautiful view of Gosainkunda Range, Langtang, Tibet and Sangyan Himal can be seen. We can also go to Gatlang Village which is rich in a cultural and traditional heritage. People from young to old wear their traditional dress and speak their own mother language. They welcome their guest anytime of the day by dancing and singing their traditional song. Parvati Kunda is a sacred Lake which legend says was discovered in ancient time while a Ghale king was on the way to find out the hunter dog loss while setting out for hunting. The lake is at an altitude of 2520 meters high from the sea level and is covered with acorus calamus an herbal plant locally known as Bojo. New experience can be gained by moving from one culturally rich village to another. The visit becomes quite adventurous while passing through mountains, valleys, forest vegetation and upland pasture. Everywhere there are amazing landscape and ups and downs. With pass along dancing rivers as well as pristine water we hope peace and joy in the heart. Another example of good combination of natural and cultural beauty is Nagthali Danda at an altitude of 3165 meters from the sea level. There is a view of snow capped mountain all around is the special attraction of the place and gives of feeling of being close to heaven. The traditional songs here make one wonder whether the mountains themselves are singing. It is an unforgettable experience of having lunch here face to face with Langtang Mountain. Thuman is reached through kind of flowring plant, locally known as Lofta and used in manufacturing handmade Nepali paper. Thuman is very near to China and very much influence by Tibetan traditions and religion. As we move on through the long trail and hilly region by the bank of Bhotekoshi River, which flows from Tibet we reach Timure village. The culture and costumes of people here are similar to that of the Tibetan society. Forty minutes north from here is Rasuwagadi on the Nepal China border. The fort at Rasuwagadi was made at the time of Nepal Tibet war which still gives impression of strategic importance of this place and the past which was fort over many times. The other side of the border is Tibetan market called Khambatar. For those with tired limbs nature has provided welcome hot springs. Tibet at Tatopani in view of the snowy peaks of high Himalaya at its steady temperature of 40 degree Celsius is quite magic. Spending night in tents sometime on the lap of mountain and the other time on the river bank adds up to more adventure. Briddhim village is a wonderful place to experience at first hand the lifestyle of the people of the region, the smell of different species of plants grown in Langtang National Park and alluring beauty of blooming Rhododendron, the national flower of Himalayan kingdom Nepal are among the attractions of Briddhim village. You can actually stay with the Tamangs in the comfortable traditional wooden houses each with rich carrying traditional brass and wood producing. The main aim to home stay is reason here is to provide except experience of the local lifestyle and allow the visitors to relax and get to know the host. Tamang houses are small, but steady and even though Briddhim is a remote village there are very good facilities of toilets, water taps, showers and comfortable bedding. In spite of modernization and globalization the traditional Tamang villages of Nepal are showing their superiority by preserving their rich cultural and traditional heritage. The tourists setting out to trek in this region or to staying in one of the villages for a while or even stay at Dhunche, the main hub of the Langtang area, will experience something truly unique they will bring home memory to last the life time. The trekking trail feature passes through Dhunche, Shyaphrubesi, Goljung, Parvati Kunda, Gatlang, Chorten trail, Tatopani, Nag Thali, Thuman, Timure, Rasuwa Gadi and Briddhim and is all Tamang Heritage Trail in Nepal.
